In November we were chosen to participate to the ‘Craft & Sustainable Textiles for Fashion’ workshop organised by the British Council and BIAAF during the Bilbao Design Week.

It is always a great honor for us to have the chance to be among creative people and exchange knowledge and practices on sustainability. It has been an intense two days workshop, starting with inspirational speeches by Ludovic Assemat, Head of Arts of the British Council Spain and Elisa Palomino, Fashion Print Pathway leader at Central Saint Martins, and moving on to work in teams as to research, experiment and design a garment collection of sustainable materials. Sustainable fashion has many aspects, which were discussed in detail in this workshop. We learned a lot about the European network that supports and promotes research and projects on sustainable materials, we talked about how locality and tradition can trigger the investigation of new materials, and we explored fashion projects that embrace ethics and social responsibility issues.

We had a very constructive time and it is of a great importance to work with and be part of a creative design community in Europe, designers and brands that aspire the values of sustainability and crafting. A big thank you to the British Council for the invitation and to the BIAAF for the hosting.
